Brenham - February Garden Notes

"I believe in roses. Oh God, yes! I do believe in roses! And I believe in lots and lots and lots of them, too!”
~ C. Joybell C.

2016 February Calendar:

February 14th  - Sunday, 2 p.m.
Rose Pruning Practicum
Learn how regain control of the rose in your garden (or better yet never let them take control!). Mike Shoup will lead a “hands on” demonstration of rose pruning and training techniques on February 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m  FREE

February To-Do List:

Triumphator Lily: “WOW!” These photos came from Jimmy Turner but you don’t have to have his gardening genius to succeed with them. These lilies tower over beds at about 50 inches in height. They will bloom beautifully in zones 5-9 (in early summer here in Texas.) They are fabulously fragrant. Each year you’ll be blessed with larger and larger clumps.

Early Spring Vegetable Gardens: Until the end of February you can still plant lettuces, mustard and turnip greens, sugar peas, carrots, kales, chards, spinach, radishes, and beets from seed. Tomatoes and peppers can be given a early start by planting now with protection (greenhouses, etc.) We have seeds available. We also have transplants of strawberries, kales, and cauliflowers,

Belinda’s Dream or Valentine’s Dream? From February 1st through Valentine’s Day our 2 gallon Belinda’s Dream are $12.00 each. You’ll be someone’s sweetheart all year long with the gift of this beautiful rose.
